Septoplasty
Overview
Septoplasty is a procedure that corrects a deviated septum or other deformities in the nasal septum (the boney structure separating the nostrils). It is usually done to reduce the risk of sinus infections, fix a breathing problem caused by a deviated septum, and straighten a crooked nose. The procedure includes cutting and repositioning a part of the septum to the middle of the nose. It is usually done through small incisions inside the nose. However, sometimes it may be necessary to make an incision between the nostrils. The nasal tissues will be quite stable 3 to 6 months after the surgery.
