Overview

Septoplasty is a procedure that corrects a deviated septum or other deformities in the nasal septum (the boney structure separating the nostrils). It is usually done to reduce the risk of sinus infections, fix a breathing problem caused by a deviated septum, and straighten a crooked nose. The procedure includes cutting and repositioning a part of the septum to the middle of the nose. It is usually done through small incisions inside the nose. However, sometimes it may be necessary to make an incision between the nostrils. The nasal tissues will be quite stable 3 to 6 months after the surgery.

I have some questions about septoplasty. Could you provide assistance?

What is the optimal age range for septoplasty in women for the sake of health? How much time does it typically take for the nose to settle into its final position after the surgery? In terms of health considerations, is open or closed septoplasty generally considered more advisable? Thank you.

Will the stiffness and hardness of my nose decrease over time?

I am 18 days post-septorhinoplasty and have noticed that my nose feels quite firm and rigid. Can I expect it to become more supple and regain a natural feel over time? I underwent this procedure to correct issues that arose after a netball accident two years ago, which resulted in a prominent bump o
