Doctors' Response

Do you advise immediately closing incisions following liposuction?

I consulted with a doctor regarding 360 lipo, and they mentioned they don't utilize drains. Instead, they prefer to close the incisions immediately after surgery. My main concern revolves around drainage. If the incisions are sealed right away, what happens to the fluid? I've always believed that surgeons either employ drains or leave the incisions open for some time initially.

hi and thanks for your question. There is no one truth in this issue, all of these are possible. When we close the holes after liposuction it will dissolve by time but it will take a little bit more time and it is comfortable than the others. Because you wont feel stitch pain which we use to fix drains. And also you need less dressing changes. In my practice I usually put drains. Sometimes I don’t. Good luck and get heal soon
