His professional expertise includes plastic and reconstructive surgery, aesthetic breast surgery, rhinoplasty, facial procedures, otoplasty, tissue regeneration and engineering, etc.

Graduated from the University of Freiburg in 1982 with an MD degree, Dr. Bjorn Stark became a senior resident at the University Hospital of Bonn from 1982 to 1989. He later completed a research fellowship in plastic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from 1985 to 1986 and a residency program at Tulane University, New Orleans from 1990 to 1993. 

Dr. Bjorn Stark was a senior physician at Cologne Burn Center and medical director and full professor of Freiburg Medical Center. He also was the managing director of the Surgical University Clinic in Freiburg and the medical director of the Erich Lexer Clinic for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery affiliated with the University Medical Center Freiburg.

He is a member of the Society of the German-speaking Lymphologists, the European Club for Pediatric Burns (ECPB), the International Burn Society (IBS), the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), the Tissue Engineering Society (TES), and other professional bodies. He won numerous prizes for his contributions to the field of tissue engineering and replacement including the Körber European Science Prize in 2002, which is awarded annually by the Körber Foundation in Hamburg to outstanding scientists working in Europe for their promising research projects.
