Doctors' Response

I'm experiencing a significant itching sensation. What could be the cause of this?

Hello, around 6 months ago, I underwent Islamic tattoo removal at a beauty center. However, after the third session, I experienced more swelling than in the previous sessions. The itching and pain were quite intense. I followed the aftercare instructions consistently. Then the viral outbreak occurred, leading to the closure of various places. I have this mark left on my arm, and I'm currently experiencing a lot of itching and tingling sensations, especially at night. I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide some insight into the potential reasons behind this situation and offer any assistance.

Hello, thank you for the question. The itching and tingling sensations you are experiencing after undergoing multiple sessions of tattoo removal could be due to various factors, including skin irritation, allergic reaction or infection. The repeated sessions of tattoo removal can cause irritation and sensitivity in the skin, leading to itching and tingling sensations as the skin heals. Also, you may have developed allergic reactions to the tattoo removal process or the products used during the procedure, which caused this itching sensation and swelling. There is also a chance that the skin did not heal properly after the tattoo removal sessions and led to prolonged itching and tingling sensations as the skin continues to repair itself. The dryness of the skin can also be the culprit. The skin may become dry and dehydrated after tattoo removal treatments, leading to itching and discomfort. Proper hydration and moisturization can help alleviate these symptoms.  It is recommended to see a dermatologists for an evaluation but before you could arrange an appointment keep the skin clean and moisturized and avoid scratching or rubbing the affected area as it worsens the itching sensation.
